WFOT welcomes occupational therapy organisations that wish to join the Federation as Member Organisations.
Three categories of organisational membership are offered by WFOT. It is necessary to closely review the categories to determine the most appropriate type of membership for your organisation.
Information is provided below regarding the application process for each category of WFOT organisational membership.
WFOT is able to provide resources and assistance to establish membership in WFOT. It is recommended that you review relevant resources available from WFOT before beginning the application process.
WFOT Organisational Membership Application Process
The application process begins with the submission of required application documentation to WFOT. Although assistance can be provided by WFOT, initiation of the membership application process and completion of the required documentation is the responsibility of the applicant.
Once your required information is received by WFOT, it will be sent to independent reviewers to determine your eligibility for membership. Feedback will be provided by WFOT following the review, including any recommendations for additional or alternate information to establish your eligibility.
A vote of the WFOT General Assembly is necessary to approve new members of the Federation. The WFOT General Assembly will ensure the membership application process was conducted appropriately to establish eligibility for membership. You will be informed when a decision is made by the WFOT General Assembly regarding approval of your membership application.

Application for Full Membership

To join WFOT as a Full Member Organisation, it is necessary to:
1. Complete the online WFOT Organisational Membership Application Form. A preview version of the application form can be downloaded from here (please note that some questions may or may not appear to you depending on your responses).
2. Submit a copy of your organisation’s constitution: The constitution must contain information to address WFOT Requirements for Organisational Constitutions. The organisational constitution can be submitted as part of the application form.
3. Submit required documentation for an occupational therapy education programme in your jurisdiction to be assessed for WFOT approval.
- The occupational therapy education programme must meet the WFOT Minimum Standards for the Education of Occupational Therapists.

To join WFOT as a Associate Member Organisation, it is necessary to:

To join WFOT as a Regional Member Organisation, please submit an email to [email protected] stating your interest of your organisation to join as a Regional Member Organisation and detailing how the organisation fulfils the description of WFOT Regional Membership.
