The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant provides quality Occupational Therapy services including direct care and treatment under the direction and supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist in an interdisciplinary environment at Lutheran SeniorLife facilities/agencies including, as assigned, skilled nursing facilities, LIFE programs, home health and/or outpatient clinics.
Provides Occupational Therapy treatment to residents/patients/clients according to the Occupational Therapy plan of care as directed and supervised by the licensed Occupational Therapist.
Participates in gathering information regarding functional status of residents/patients/clients as directed by the licensed Occupational Therapist.
Completes all documentation and record keeping related to the provision of Occupational Therapy services in a timely and accurate and thorough manner consistent with regulatory requirements.
Communicates to residents/patients/clients, families, caregivers and facility/agency staff regarding care issues and discharge planning.
Participates in the operation of the GCS Rehabilitation department according to department policies and procedures, i.e., infection control, safety. Complies with all facility/agency policies & procedures.
Contributes to the planning, implementation, evaluation and quality management of clinical, department and facility/agency programs.
Attends Rehab department meetings and participates in all mandatory in service programs specific to the Rehab department.
Provides appropriate caregiver training as requested.
Responsible for planning, assigning, and directing the work of up to 2 techs.
Complies with Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Practice Act and all federal and state regulations applicable to the assigned site‐Skilled Nursing facilities, PACE/LIFE programs, Home Health programs, Outpatient Clinics.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Associate's degree (A. A.) from an accredited Occupational Therapist Assistant program.
Six months to one year related experience and/or training preferred. Working knowledge of computer software required for documentation and communication.
Maintains current PA License as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, including meeting continuing education requirements.
