Occupational Therapist

About Bramacare

Bramacare is a pioneering, specialist service providing evidence-based rehabilitation for adults with severe and enduring eating disorders. Our patients often transition from long inpatient hospital stays, and our multidisciplinary team works holistically to help them reintegrate into the community and live meaningful lives.

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and recovery-oriented Occupational Therapist to join our growing team.

Role Overview

The Occupational Therapist will play a vital role in supporting patients to rebuild independence, identity, and purpose. You will work with individuals experiencing complex mental health challenges related to eating disorders—such as restrictive eating, obsessive-compulsive behaviours, trauma, anxiety, and difficulties with interoception and daily functioning.

You will assess and support functional recovery through meaningful activity, structure, and skills-building, with a strong emphasis on community integration, occupational balance, and therapeutic engagement.

Key Responsibilities

* Conduct comprehensive functional and occupational assessments for all new admissions
* Develop individualised occupational therapy care plans in collaboration with the wider MDT
* Deliver group and 1:1 interventions focused on:
* Meal preparation and planning
* Sensory regulation
* Body image and identity work
* Energy conservation and pacing
* Self-care and hygiene
* Volunteering, education, or vocational re-engagement
* Support patients with exposure-based work around food-related and social anxiety
* Facilitate gradual community access, travel training, and real-world skill development
* Contribute to discharge planning, including liaising with community services/employers/education providers
* Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to CPA, MDT reviews and CQC standards
* Deliver staff training and provide occupational therapy input into the care model
* Participate in reflective practice, supervision, and continuous service improvement

What We're Looking For

Essential:

* BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registration
* Experience in mental health or eating disorders (inpatient or community)
* Understanding of the impact of eating disorders on function and quality of life
* Ability to work creatively and flexibly with patients who may have ambivalence or fear around recovery
* Excellent communication, documentation, and teamworking skills

Desirable:

* Sensory integration training or interest
* Experience working with trauma-informed approaches
* Knowledge of DBT, CBT-E, or other evidence-based models
* Experience supporting transitions from inpatient to community care

Why Join Bramacare?

* Be part of a forward-thinking that prioritises whole-person recovery
* Small caseloads, allowing for deep, meaningful clinical relationships
* Innovative, community-oriented rehabilitation model
* Opportunities for service development, supervision, and CPD
* Warm, inclusive, and values-driven workplace culture
