*Occupational Therapist*
Elves Special Needs Society, a non-profit organization, seeks a part-time Occupational Therapist for the Elves Adult Program. The Elves Adult Program has served adults with severe disabilities in a Community Access Day Program for over 50 years. The successful candidate must have experience working with seniors or persons with complex medical needs in a community setting. Experience or willingness to work with a multidisciplinary team that serves diverse and complex needs is an asset.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Consultation to families, instructors, and paraprofessionals regarding the most enabling support for individuals with special needs
* Support access to equipment
* Support assessment and referrals for , complex physical needs or mental health
* Assisting families to seek support for their home, referrals to supports to access equipment or materials for their adult child
* Ordering of mobility, assistive devices, or incontinence aides (AADL authorization is an asset)
* Undertaking assessments in relation to the physical, communication, sensory, interaction and cognitive skills of adult
* Support assessment or referrals to address feeding, dysphagia or other eating related issues
* Planning, organizing and supporting appropriate treatment and targeted activities through individual or group-based activities
* Completion of Functional or Sensory Assessments
* Liaising and updating physicians, psychologists, parents, guardians or caregivers during on-site and community clinics and keeping them updated
* Planning further interventions, reviewing progress and transitional planning
* Assessing treatment success at multi-professional case conferences and meetings
* Managing a caseload, prioritizing needs, and completing administrative tasks such as writing reports, making telephone calls, maintaining records, budgetary records and case notes
* Oversight of Occupational and Physical Therapy Assistant
* Training students and supervising the work of occupational therapy assistants.
Candidates must have a Master Degree in Occupational Therapy and be registered with ACOT.
The successful candidate will work a part-time position (21 to 32 hours - Three to four days per week), Monday to Friday (8:00 am to 4:00 pm). There is an immediate start date. The salary range will be determined based on the review of the experience. There is also a competitive benefit and pension package.
The successful candidate will report to the Elves Adult Program Director and the Elves Executive Director.
