News from Member Organisations June 2025 - Italy

In 2025, AITO continues its strong commitment to advancing occupational therapy practice, research, and public engagement across Italy.

We are currently in the final stages of organizing our National Congress, which will take place on 24 May 2025. The focus of this year’s event will be the presentation of findings from three systematic reviews voluntarily conducted by a group of AITO members. The aim of these reviews was to collect and analyse the assessment tools currently available in the literature, with a specific focus on identifying those that are usable and available in the Italian language.

The reviews address the areas of assistive technologies, sexuality, and occupational performance, and represent an important step within a broader strategic goal: to harmonize assessment practices across the Italian occupational therapy context, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and evidence-based decision-making.

Alongside our scientific initiatives, AITO has also launched a new webinar series aimed at families and patient associations, scheduled to align with national awareness days. These sessions have seen strong participation and have so far addressed rare diseases, Down syndrome, and autism. The upcoming webinar will focus on multiple sclerosis. Through these initiatives, AITO seeks to increase public awareness of the value and impact of occupational therapy in everyday life.

Through evidence-based inquiry and active engagement with the community, AITO remains dedicated to promoting excellence in occupational therapy throughout Italy.
