Definition of Occupational Therapy in Cyprus
Cyprus Association of Occupational Therapists's definition of occupational therapy in own language
For the purposes of this Law, occupational therapy is a health profession that promotes health and well-being through occupation. It assesses and therapeutically intervenes with individuals and groups whose ability to successfully engage in daily life roles and situations has been affected or is at risk due to physical, mental, psychological, or developmental illnesses, disabilities, impairments, or challenges. Occupational therapy uses purposeful and therapeutic activities to promote, maintain, and restore, to the greatest possible extent, an individual’s functionality, participation, and independence across all areas of daily living.
