The Practice Tutor post is based in the Occupational Therapy Department in St. James’s Hospital with input on a half-time basis into the Discipline of Occupational Therapy, Trinity College Dublin. The post holder will also carry a clinical caseload (equivalent to a 0.5wte) in the Mercer’s Institute for Successful Ageing (MISA), joining an established team who provide a service to acute admission, inpatient rehabilitation, residential care and ambulatory care.
The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:
1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc.
Candidates for appointment must:
(i) Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
And
(ii) Have 3 years fulltime (or an aggregate of 3 years fulltime) post qualification clinical experience, of which at least one year relates to care of the older person.
And
(iii) Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
And
(iv) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
2. Annual Registration
(i) On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
And
(ii) Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Human Resources, St. James’s Hospital by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC).
And
Candidates for appointment must :
1. Demonstrates clinical proficiency in the assessment and treatment of relevant conditions using evidence-based practice.
2. Has proven experience in practice education.
