Oliver House are looking for qualified Occupational Therapist with a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with young people with Autism & severe learning disabilities. You will be a friendly, approachable individual and will be able to demonstrate that you can engage with young people effectively and also show a clear understanding of the role of a Sensory Occupational Therapist. You will possess a caring attitude and a desire to improve the outcomes for our young people.
This is an excellent opportunity for you to work as part of our multi-disciplinary team, working as a team to improve the lives of the young people we educate both in our school settings and in our four children’s homes in the surrounding area. The role will also involve performing assessments to establish the needs of our young people, monitoring progress, carrying out observations, providing sensory recommendations and conducting direct therapeutic work to train our staff.
We are looking for a candidate who possesses excellent communication skills and has the ability to convey sensitive information to our young people, their families and other professionals. You will possess excellent time management skills, be self-motivated, with the ability to organise and prioritise your work to meet deadlines within the department.
As an Occupational Therapist you will be working with up to 60 young people who have autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. You will be based at Oliver House School and will be required to work across two specialist ASD schools and offer support to our residential provisions in the Chorley and Preston area. Your approach to your working hours will need to be flexible on occasions, to meet the needs of the young people, when required.
