Purpose
The aim of this exploratory survey study is to investigate the utilization of social media employed by licensed occupational therapists for professional purposes and its effects on professional growth, networking, and knowledge acquisition. For the purpose of this research, social media is defined as websites and applications that facilitate user-generated content sharing and participation in social networking.
Procedure for completing the survey
Potential candidates are given a RedCAP link which connects them to the cover letter and survey. The survey study is exempt and does not require informed consent signature. The candidate’s willingness to participate in the research study is implied if they proceed with the survey. They survey includes 33questions and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. You can proceed through the questions by clicking your responses. Other options allow for open text responses. Additional feedback on the survey topic can be given in question 33.
How anonymity of data will be ensured
The survey will not collect any identifiable information, and no one will be able to connect the responses to the participants. The primary investigator, the co-investigator, and the student researcher will be the only individuals with access to the Redcap database. The de-identified data will be uploaded to a password protected secure platform (GWU Box), where it will be stored for 48 months. Further analysis of de-identified data will be completed in SPSS, a secure data analysis platform. The PI, co-investigator and student researcher will be the only individuals who have access to GWU Box, Redcap, and SPSS.

Target closure date of the survey is March 15th2025.
