About the IALP survey
This survey is a scoping study on behalf of IALP. Its purpose is to understand more about professionals who work with people with speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders in low-middle resourced countries* and to understand how these professions can best be supported. Education and training of professionals, and services for people with speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders are often quite limited in these countries compared with high-resourced countries. The survey aims to identify ways in which these professions can work together to develop services around the world. IALP will share these anonymised findings at conferences and via other professional associations and international partners, with the aim of promoting international collaborations.
* Low- middle resourced countries include countries listed by the World Bank as low-middle income as well as countries that IALP has been informed are not well resourced. This lack of resourcing may include low levels of qualified professionals, lack of availability of services, no formal professional association or infrastructure.
Ethics Approval
The study received approval from the University of the West of England, Bristol, College of Health Science and Society Research Ethics Committee.
