This study aims to establish a consensus on the definition of Executive Functioning (EF) and identify a functional task suitable to evaluate EF in children (aged 6 – 12 years old) by convening an international expert panel. The results from this study will inform future research on the development of performance-based assessment. The expert panel will comprise various groups, including clinicians with at least three years of experience in treating children with ADHD. The project has been approved by The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Institutional Review Board (PolyU IRB) (Reference Number: HSEARS20250826005). Please refer to the enclosed Information Sheet for more information of this study.
Participants will complete a short online survey and rate several tasks based on the level of assistance needed, level of importance, and likelihood of being performed by children. Participants will be asked to provide their gender, identity, and country or territory of residence. They may also provide an email address if they wish to receive a follow-up questionnaire. Participation in this study is entirely voluntary. All responses will be treated with strict confidentiality and used solely for academic purposes.
The questionnaire is expected to be completed on or before December 31, 2025.
