Free City Tour when you sign up to collect your registration materials on Monday 3 May



A trip to the Convention centre that will point out key sites on the way, and give you useful tips on how to make the most of being in Santiago. Your dedicated OTSI tour operators will answer any questions you have, and you will benefit from registering early for the congress and pick up the congress materials the day before the congress starts. Get a head start and get your congress programme handbook and name badge before any one else!

Valle Nevado

  • Full Day Excursion Length: 8 hours

At the Andes’s heart, very close to Santiago city, it’s the biggest and most modern winter center of the south hemisphere. Located at 3.025 mts. of altitude, counts with 9000 hectares of skiable surface, distributed in 37 km of trails.
Opened on 1988, among the El Colorado and La Parva centers, give life to the region known as “ the three valleys” with 107 km of trails.
Dust snow, 34 ski trails and pendants prepared with unevenness that reaches the 810 meters and finish at splendid andines fields and off trails areas with an excellent virgin snow. It’s the ideal frame to ski, snowboarding, heli-ski or off trail.
It’s Snowboard Park, of 100 mts. long and 50 wide, has two special trails: Half Pipe and Border Cross, among the La Escondida lift. Since 2003, Valle Nevado is the venue for the FIS Snowboard World Cup, the only Sport center selected in Latin-America.

 

Isla Negra and Pablo Neruda

Depart from the hotel, route toward the Pacific coast ,crossing part of the central valley and the mountain Range of the Coast.- going along a series of small and full of local color beaches to finally arrive to Isla Negra, preferred refuge of the Nobel prize of Literature Poet.- In a house that was built little by little and that was filled in the same way with his preferred collections, today’s hoarded objects are as diverse as figureheads, hundreds of bottles, old instruments of marine navigation, seashells, etc.- All his "Big Boy Toys" like he used to refer to his collections.- Pablo Neruda is one of the most read writers in the human history.- In the gardens that look at the beautiful beach of sand and rocks, is located the tomb of Mr. Pablo and Matilde Urrutia, his last wife.- The Pacific Ocean with all its greatness is the perfect framework to wrap this magical place.

City Tour Santiago

The visit to the city is a walk through the residential, commercial, and historic zones.- Visit at the gardens of the Government Palace "La Moneda", view of the historic down town with the Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral, the Mail Central, The City Hall and commercial buildings.
After that, a tour on the main avenue of the city "La Alameda" Bernardo O' Higgins, view of the Santa Lucía Hill, Parque Forestal, the San Cristobal Hill and the bohemian neighborhood Bellavista.- Then, a tour to the business and modern residential districts, sectors that arrive to the feet of the Range of the Andes.- New neighborhoods as Santa María de Manquehue, Las Condes and Vitacura are mixed with sectors of advanced architecture as the El Golf Neighborhood.- Return to the hotel

Wine Train Tour

The Wine Train Tour mixes culture, past, chilean traditions and the fascinating world of the wine. A journey that begins from the Galerias Hotel, heading to Colchagua, one of the most prosperous valley for the wine production and that keeps the chilean’s country life traditions, it invites you to discover and re-enchant yourself with the chilean culture. Valparaíso and Viña del Mar

Depart from the hotel toward the Pacific coast, crossing the fertile valleys of Curacaví and Casablanca. Route through the coast way, view of the city of Valparaíso from the viewing points located in some of the 43 hills that surround the bay and its curious elevators called "ascensores". The historic center of this city-port was declared Patrimony of Humanity, its architecture confers it a marked personality and highlights its tourist attractiveness.- Valparaíso is the main port of Chile, located at 124 Km. of Santiago, in the region of the central coast. Of curious origin was established in 1535 by Juan of Saavedra, but never founded. View of its administrative, commercial, and historic zones, of the National Congress. After that a visit to the city-beach of Viña del Mar, famous for its gardens, the Clock of Flowers is its symbol.- The Casino, Av. Peru and Av. San Martin, residential sectors of modern architecture, arriving to the Reñaca Beach.- At the afternoon visits to the foundational sector of Viña del Mar, Av. Libertad, Plaza Vergara, Quinta Vergara and Av. Alvarez, return to Santiago.

 

Santiago by Night

The city night tour is a mix of different bohemian neighbourhoods such as Brasil, Bellavista, República, also a visit to the San Cristóbal Hill and its wine cellar, which has a wine tasting as an optional.

 

Concha y Toro Vineyard

Depart from the hotel, route toward the south of the city to approach an Andean zone.- The trip continues toward a canyon known as the Cajón del Maipo, rural zone in which conjugate the landscape of the snow-covered mountains and the small cultivations of vines.- Advancing trough the Valley it arrives to one of the most famous, renown and internationally famous vineyards: Concha y Toro (founded on 1883). Visit to the park, plantations of vine, tour through the traditional wine cellars to arrive to a corner that keeps one of the secrets of the vineyard… The Casillero del Diablo. This visit is accompanied by a tasting and the glass that have utilized will remain as souvenir of this experience. Time to buy wines in the store of the vineyard. Return to the hotel in Santiago.
