Celebrating Two Decades of Excellence: 20th Anniversary of the Trinidad and Tobago Occupational Therapy Association.
It is with great pleasure that we announce a milestone celebration for the Trinidad and Tobago Occupational Therapy Association (TTOTA) as we mark our 20th anniversary! Over the past two decades, our association has grown from a small group of five (5) dedicated professionals to a vibrant community of thirty-two (32) members committed to enhancing the field of Occupational Therapy. This milestone is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our members, and we couldn't be more proud of all that we have accomplished together.
TTOTA was founded in 2004, joined the WFOT as an Associate Member in 2014, and was admitted as a Full Member in 2016 with the approval of the Masters of Occupational Therapy at the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC). To celebrate our achievements, the association will be hosting various events throughout the remainder of the year. These include: a Fun and Family Day, an Awards and Dinner Ceremony, a few community-based projects and our feature event ‘Fete-for-All’ , a grand celebration which aims to celebrate diversity and promote accessibility.
Highlighting Academic Excellence and Developing the Local Workforce
In conjunction with our 20th anniversary, we are delighted to celebrate the achievements of the USC Master of Science in Occupational Therapy programme. On June 30th 2024, six exceptional students from the fourth cohort graduated from this rigorous programme. These new graduates demonstrated dedication to academic excellence under the trying circumstances of the global pandemic. Rising to this challenge, and with the support of the TTOTA community of practitioners, they succeeded and will join the twenty other graduates from this pioneering local programme. We are confident they will make significant contributions to the field of occupational therapy in Trinidad and Tobago and beyond. Previous graduates of this programme have already been active in TTOTA leadership, in practice and research, and at the level of the Occupational Therapy Board on the Trinidad and Tobago Council of Professions Related to Medicine. We trust that the future of occupational therapy looks bright in the Caribbean.
Join the Celebration
We invite all members and supporters of TTOTA to connect with us and join us in celebrating these remarkable achievements. Stay tuned to our social media (@ttota868 on Instagram, and the Trinidad and Tobago Occupational Therapy Association on Facebook) for upcoming events and opportunities to engage with our community as we commemorate this special anniversary. We would like to thank our colleagues at the WFOT and internationally for all the years of technical support, camaraderie and collaboration they have consistently provided our association. Together, we look forward to many more years of sustainable growth, learning, and service to our communities.
