Portuguese Palliative Care and Occupational Therapy Interest Group
The Palliative Care and Occupational Therapy Interest Group (GICPTO), of the Portuguese Association of Occupational Therapists restart to work in July 2023, after a few months of inactivity. The GICPTO intends to work in favour of this specific field of intervention, since it is a new field for the Occupational Therapists in Portugal. It aims to update the competences of the occupational therapists; to carry out statistical research, in order to identify interventions and professional functions in this field; to promote the visibility of the developed work; to recognise and value the contribution of occupational therapy to palliative care, through scientific evidence; to develop informative and/or professional continuous training activities and to disseminate the professional profile of the therapists, in this specific field of intervention, in different contexts where it is possible to integrate these professionals, among others. Members of the Association can participate in this group, through monthly meetings, presential or online, with the active participation of all, coordinated by Occupational Therapist Francisco Javier Vidal Barrantes.
