WFOT has joined as a member of the newly formed World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA). WRA is an informal network of the World Health Organization (WHO) that includes non-state actors, intergovernmental organisations and member states with a mission to support the strengthening of health systems to provide rehabilitation as an integral part of Universal Health Coverage. The goal of WRA is to raise the profile of rehabilitation at a global, regional, national and local level through evidence-based advocacy activities and by increasing networking and knowledge sharing within the rehabilitation sector. WRA will have five workstreams, addressing the rehabilitation workforce, primary care, research, emergencies and external relations. WFOT President Samantha Shann serves as co-chair of the workforce stream and a member of the WRA Steering Committee.
