News from Member Organisations March 2021 - France

It is our 60th birthday!

This 2021, the ANFE (Association Nationale Française des Ergothérapeutes– French National Association of Occupational Therapists) celebrates its 60th anniversary.

The association was created in 1961 by Jacqueline Roux.

Given the current circumstances, there are no face-to-face events planned for the moment to celebrate it.

During 2020, the ANFE has published several documents and guidelines linked to COVID-19. Most of them can be found in the “COVID-19 Pandemic Information and Resources” section of the WFOT website.

There have also been several recommendations for the occupational therapist in France to help guide them adapting their practice during and after the national lockdowns.

Since the end of 2019, the ANFE has started making live webinars approximately one evening a month about different topics to show assessments or treatment tools, theoretical models, innovative and interesting projects that are taking place in France or to share important news that affect the profession.

These webinars are free of charge and for ANFE’s members only.

They are uploaded to the ANFE’s website so they can be watched by the members at their own pace.

They have been well received and are becoming more and more popular.

Equipment and Technical aids Prescription

There is a pilot programme being tested at the moment that will hopefully soon allow occupational therapists in France to prescribe the equipment that patients need. At present, all the equipment must be prescribed by a doctor in order to be reimbursed by the national insurance.

WFOT Approved Education Programmes

In 2020, the review of the education programmes of the country has begun.

A working group was created to finalise the approval protocol and to review the education programmes that wished to be reviewed.

As of today, there are 16 approved programmes in France.
